Katharine Tate

Qualified nutritional consultant

Katharine Tate, also known as “The Food Teacher”, is a qualified nutritional consultant who is recognised internationally as an expert on nutrition and specialises in educating children and families on healthier food choices. For three years, she has been providing Lorisian food intolerance* testing to clients who are struggling with IBS related symptoms and weight problems.

“Clients typically deal with their symptoms for several years before they look into the test and once they have also exhausted GP services to ensure there is nothing seriously wrong,” explained Katharine.

In order to get to the bottom of their symptoms, many people work with Katharine to take a closer look at their diet and find out which foods they are intolerant to. She is able to quickly provide this information with the help of Lorisian.

The food intolerance* testing offered by Lorisian consists of a simple finger-prick blood test. This is taken in the comfort of a client’s own home and then posted back to the Lorisian laboratory in a pre-paid envelope.

Lorisian’s expert laboratory team then analyse the client’s IgG antibody reactions to up to 200 foods and drink ingredients, before providing colour coded results and comprehensive support material to outline their personal trigger foods. This information helps form the basis of a guided elimination diet.

“The administration of the testing is always good and tests are always back before they are due,” commented Katherine. “The Lorisian Account Managers are quick to deal with queries and provide information. It’s a first class service.”

“I also find the results straightforward and have used the Lorisian nutritional therapist once to support me with an individual case.”

Lorisian’s BANT registered nutritional therapists are on hand to support the clients of practitioners like Katharine with expert advice, delivered through 30 minute telephone consultations.

Using Lorisian’s tests, Katharine has been able to provide her clients with some fantastic results, once they successfully remove “trigger foods” from their diet.

“I have not had one client who has been disappointed by the outcomes as the results and my support has enabled them to address their health in an informed manner and has at times been transformational.”

Katharine herself has also benefited commercially from the addition of Lorisian testing and estimates that each year it yields her business an additional £1,000 - £2,000 profit.

“I offer packages, which include the tests for clients. Clients receive the test kit prior to the first consultation so it can inform our initial meeting and play a huge part in the development of their programme.”

*Lorisian define food intolerance as a food-specific IgG reaction. Their information is intended to provide nutritional advice for dietary optimisation. Lorisian do not claim to treat or cure symptoms and recommend that you encourage your client to discuss any medical concerns they have with a doctor before undertaking a Lorisian test.
